JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

Our Denver office has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Structural Engineer to lead our project team.  We are looking for a competent, self-motivated, personable, problem-solver who remains professional and flexible in a fast-paced environment.  The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of structural engineering experience, at least two years of management experience, be reliable, resourceful, thrive under pressure, professional, competent in client relations, a high-functioning multi-tasker, and have excellent interpersonal skills. This individual will play an important role as a team leader, who will participate in design coordination, execution, and construction administration on an array of projects ranging from residential to commercial real estate.

Major Areas of Responsibilities

General

  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
  • Oversee, improve and develop technical competence within the junior staff.
  • Aid in generating proposals, scopes, and schedules.
  • Manage and complete work within each project’s scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Identify schedule and budget deviations and report to the President of the firm.
  • Play a key role in client interaction.

Technical

  • Responsible for technical delivery of design on assigned projects.
  • Perform drafting in AutoCAD when necessary.
  • Analyze design using various structural engineering software programs.
  • Prepare structural calculations and details of structural elements.
  • Give needed guidance to the drafters to prepare structural drawings.
  • Participate in construction admin services such as on-site observations of construction, requests for information (RFIs), shop drawing review, and design revisions.
  • Perform check and approve design documents and drawings before issuing final drawings.

Education and Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a structural engineering emphasis
  • 12+ years of experience in structural engineering with comprehensive knowledge of structural design standards and codes
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, experience with RAM Elements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction work experience
  • Revit experience a plus
